Presented is a two-page letter from Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg to a friend in 1964 offering his condolences for the passing of her husband. Written in ballpoint on two 6 ¼-by-7-inch pages of his personal stationery, with letterhead with name and New York City address atop each. Pages are in Ex-Mt-Plus condition, dated June 6, 1964 on the first page and signed “Hank Greenberg” on the second. This is a significant artifact from one of the great Depression Era stars, the first great Jewish professional athlete who challenged Babe Ruth’s hallowed single-season home run mark in 1938, narrowly missing with a career-high 58. The great slugger was a two-time MVP, five-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion. Full LOA from BAS.
