This is the second in a grouping of elegant sterling-silver season pass pendants, an incredibly rare and coveted crown jewel of the genre, found here in Near-Mint condition. The 1 1/4-inch octagonal piece depicts crossed bats and a baseball at the bottom, with “The Giants Bid You Welcome to the Polo Grounds, Chas. A. Stoneham, Pres. 1920.” The verso, in Ex-Mt condition, has the name “J.F. Cohen & One” and the serial number “456” at the center and “Lambert Bros. N.Y. Sterling” at the bottom of the octagon. The piece is an important artifact that is as rare as it is coveted, a piece made even more important as the year when Babe arrived in the Big Apple to change the course of MLB history. At the time the Giants and the Yankees both played home games at the Polo Grounds until a much-chagrined John McGraw put the kibosh to the arrangement in 1923 as Ruth & Co. were upstaging – and outdrawing – his own Giants.
